Radio Milwaukee paid a visit to The Well Red Damsel at 6429 W. North Ave, and we love how they told the story. Owner Natasha Meyers opened Wisconsin’s first romance-exclusive bookstore as a pop-up in 2024, then gave it a permanent, pink-walled home on the Ave in June 2025. The shelves hold just about every corner of the romance world, from fantasy and paranormal to sports romance, and Natasha’s mission is simple: no more hiding your book covers. As she puts it, “We’re not in distress. We’re in charge.”

The piece also gets into what makes the shop feel like a neighborhood living room: five active book clubs, author events, and partnerships with the Milwaukee Admirals, the Brewers, and local libraries.
